Synchronous belts are easy to break and fall off, causes and countermeasures

August 15, 2024
1. Causes and methods of easy breakage

1. Overload-----Change the design and increase the size of the Synchronous Belt

2. Overload due to mechanical accidents-----Prevent accidents from happening again

3. Overload due to excessive impact----Change the design or eliminate the impact load

4. The diameter of the synchronous pulley is small-------Change the design and use a pulley with a larger diameter

5. Belt bending------Pay attention to use

6. The belt runs on the flange------Adjust the centering again and recheck the flange shape

7. Embedded foreign matter-------Improve the environment or set up a protective cover

8. Slightly reduced due to corrosion of the wire core (steel)------Improve the environment or change the aramid fiber cord, stainless steel wire core

9. The material toughness of the synchronous belt is not enough. It is easy to break with a slight external injury--------Choose a material with better toughness.

10. The speed and displacement speed are fast, causing the synchronous belt to be subjected to large force---------Adjust the speed and displacement speed appropriately

11. Long-term use of material aging------- The synchronous belt should be replaced regularly in a planned manner

12. The synchronous belt is too long or too short/the load is too heavy-------- Try to regularly inspect and stop the machine as a must-check item
2. Reasons for easy falling off

1. The synchronous belt is too long and the two belts are of different lengths

2. The tension of the tension spring on the tensioning wheel is not enough

3. The large synchronous belt guide wheel is not level, causing the synchronous belt to be subjected to downward force

4. The synchronous belt becomes longer due to long-term operation
3. Countermeasures:

1. Choose a Timing Belt with appropriate length and the same synchronization (specification/brand) for both belts

2. Adjust/replace the tension spring if necessary

3. Adjust the level of the timing belt guide wheel

4. Shorten and reconnect the timing belt after long-term operation and lengthening
